How this directory is built

Where a listing comes from
Every entry was compiled from the company's own public website. Nothing is scraped from another directory and nothing is bought. Before a company is listed at all, its website has to answer: a directory whose links are dead is worse than no directory, so a vendor whose site had stopped resolving was left out rather than listed with a broken link.
What is deliberately blank
Most of this market does not publish prices, because most of it does not sell the same thing twice. Where that is the case the pricing field says Not published and the entry price is empty. It is not a gap we failed to fill, and we will not invent a figure to make a table look complete. A blank here turns into a question you can send: that is what the quote request is for.
The same applies to founding years, headquarters and team sizes. If it could not be confirmed from the company's own site, the row is absent rather than guessed.
What claiming means
A claim proves one thing: that you control the company's domain. There are three ways and they all prove the same fact.
- A code by email to one of these role addresses on your own domain: admin, administrator, webmaster, hostmaster, postmaster, office and 9 more.
- A file we name, served from the root of that domain.
- A meta tag we specify, in the head of its home page.
Once verified, the page is yours to edit and the enquiries sent through it arrive in your dashboard. The domain itself stays locked: it is the thing the claim proved, and letting it be edited would carry a verified listing to a domain nobody has verified.
Claiming is free and changes nothing about where you appear. There is no paid placement on this site, for anyone, and no way to have a competitor removed.
What an enquiry does
A brief goes to the providers you picked, with your contact details, capped at 25 at a time. A request sent to everybody is answered properly by nobody.
Where a listing has not been claimed and publishes no contact address we are entitled to use, the enquiry is held rather than mailed to an address we guessed. It reaches the company the moment it claims the listing.
Corrections
If something here is wrong about your company, the fastest fix is to claim the listing and correct it yourself, which takes a few minutes and does not need us. If you would rather we did it, or you think a listing should not exist at all, say so through the contact form and it gets looked at by a person.
